Joyce was born and still lives in the southern tier of New York. She has five children and eighteen grandchildren who are the love of her life, and frequently subjects of her paintings. She has traveled extensively and lived for two years in Uganda, East Africa and one year in Ethiopia. She also lived for a year in Phoenix, Arizona, where she was introduced to porcelain painting.

Although she also paints in watercolor and acrylic, over-glaze paints on porcelain is her medium of choice.

The Joyful Art Studio is not just an adaptation of the artist's name, but it also reflects the joy that her art has given her over the years. Joyce has had the privilege of meeting many wonderful people, and making life long friends through the porcelain art community.
