A practicing artist and teacher, for more than thirty five years, Paula’s talent and style encompasses techniques ranging from naturalistic to abstract expressionism. Paula’s paintings contain vibrant colors, expressive movement, and creative energy. Ethereal has described her porcelains in the last few years.
A native of Roswell, New Mexico, Paula began painting with oils and acrylics in the early 70’s, then moving on to the exploration of delicate porcelain art, and presently, adding pastels, acrylics, and palette knife oils to her art forms. Paula is a certified teacher of the International Porcelain Artists and Teachers, Inc., and a Member of the Professional Porcelain Artists Association. She is a member of the Paseo Art Association, Oklahoma City, a member of the World Organization of China Painters, and the Oklahoma Art Guild. Paula studied art at Eastern New Mexico University community classes, workshops, and art schools under practicing, renown artists throughout the United States.
Paula has taught various aspects of art in several mediums in schools and in community education. Paula is also teaching workshops on Color and Design, in all media.
She has taught numerous workshops and seminars since 1976, including Carrizo Lodge Art School (NM), Louisiana Porcelain Art Schools, PPAA schools, PAGN School of Porcelain Art, Upper Midwest Porcelain Art School, Oregon Porcelain Art School, World Organization of China Painters Museum, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Her business experience has been multifaceted, including art director of Carrizo Lodge Art School (NM), and producer of seven of her own art instructional videos; the most recent video on Landscape design, composition and techniques for the porcelain artist. She is the author of The Essence of Lustre in Porcelain Art (1980), and numerous articles and booklets for many professional artists’ magazines. Paula was featured in the book Porcelain Art-The International Collection that was published in Australia. This book presents thirty artists from 24 countries, but includes only five from the US. She is presently working on a book for those artists wanting more information about landscapes. She founded the Paula White Home Study School of Art and The Grapevine Quarterly, an art educational newsletter with articles by Paula and guest artists, in 1998.
Paula has won many awards in national art shows. Her works are in many private collections in the US and abroad. She is often commissioned to create special works of art, on porcelain, tile and canvas.
